Ecosystem mapping and foresight for a global foundation
A European foundation needed to rethink its strategy as AI and emerging technologies began reshaping society, policy, and industry. The challenge was identifying where it could focus its programs, understand the key actors shaping the space, and position itself to remain relevant and impactful.
As artificial intelligence and related emerging cognitive and deep technologies are fast becoming a critical driver of business, government and the economy, a leading European foundation sought to understand how to amend its strategy and programs to more effectively carry out its mission across an evolving global landscape permeated by technology. Cambrian Futures worked with the client to identify key programmatic focus areas and the forces and trends reshaping those fields. We then mapped the most influential actors who were shaping technological change in those spaces worldwide — whether in business, politics, or civil society. Finally, we worked with the foundation’s strategy lead to generate strategic recommendations that the management and board could use to enhance and amplify its impact going forward.
